Our target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility is treated as part of building a feature, not a pass at the end.
What is in place
- Semantic HTML with correct landmarks and heading order
- Full keyboard operation, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element
- A skip link to the main content
- Form fields with programmatic labels, descriptions and error associations
- Live-region announcements for search results, form outcomes and status changes
- Colour contrast meeting AA in both light and dark themes, verified for each token pair
- Support for
prefers-reduced-motionandprefers-contrast - Touch targets sized for comfortable use, and pinch-zoom never disabled
- Descriptive alternative text on listing photography, author-supplied where possible
- Dialogs, menus, comboboxes and calendars built on tested primitives with correct focus management
Known gaps
We would rather list these than imply they do not exist:
- There is no map view. Distance is given as text and as a sort order, which is
usable without sight — but people who think spatially have no equivalent, and that is a real gap rather than a design choice we are pleased with.
- Some longer legal documents have not been reviewed for plain-language readability.
- Automated contrast checking is not yet part of continuous integration, so
contrast is verified per token pair by hand and can drift between releases.
