Never permitted
Listing any of these is refused outright, and attempting it may cost you your account:
- Firearms, ammunition and explosives
- Controlled substances and narcotics
- Counterfeit goods and replica currency
- Live animals and human remains
- Hazardous, radioactive or asbestos-containing materials
- Covert surveillance devices, hidden cameras, signal jammers and card skimmers
- Lock-picking tools and equipment for tracking people
- Anything requiring a licence the provider does not hold
Held for review before publication
These are legal to rent in the right circumstances and illegal or dangerous in the wrong ones, so a person looks at the listing before it goes live rather than a keyword deciding:
- Alcohol, tobacco and vaping products
- Prescription medication and medical devices
- Fireworks
- Crossbows, tasers and similar
- Anything a keyword check flags as possibly prohibited
We review this way on purpose. An automated block is wrong in both directions: a heat gun, a glue gun, a nail gun and a shotgun microphone are ordinary tools, and rejecting them as weapons is both insulting and bad for the marketplace — while a genuine prohibited item is better caught by a person than by a word list.
Restricted categories
Some categories always go to a person before publication, whatever the listing says, and the provider must confirm they hold every licence, inspection and insurance the law requires:
- Drones — operator registration where required
- Access equipment (ladders, towers, scaffolding) — current inspection records
An operator can mark any category restricted. Doing so does not verify anything on the provider's behalf: it puts a human in the loop, and the responsibility for holding the right licence stays with the provider.
Services
Service providers must hold any professional registration their work requires.
Services involving children or vulnerable adults may not be listed. Offering them responsibly requires background checks that this marketplace does not currently carry out, and we would rather say so than imply a check we do not perform.
Enforcement
Listings that breach this policy are removed. Repeat or serious breaches result in suspension or a permanent ban. Where required, we report to the relevant authority.
The wording of this policy is maintained by the operator from the admin console. The automated keyword screening that supports it is part of the application and changes with a release.
